The Salt Lake City Public Library. The R.E.A.D. Program debuted in 1999 at the Salt Lake City Public Library. And yes—the new City Library building is definitely one of our stars! It was designed by renowned Boston architect Moshe Safdie and opened in 2003 (Zelda the R.E.A.D. dog pulled the ribbon at the opening festivities). The City Library has rejuvenated our city’s spirit along with its collective interest in reading and books! (Read more about it on page 2.) We are proud that the City Library is co-sponsoring our children’s book author signing party on Saturday afternoon. And tours will be available for R.E.A.D.ing Rendezvous attendees.
